In the “Ardoise” slate museum, visitors can experience an exciting journey through time into the slate industry of the 20th century. Discover in a guided tour the industrial and residential architecture of the museum complex, which provides a unique and complete picture of the more than 200 years of Luxembourgish history of slate mining and its processing. Underground mining chambers, industrial workshops, administration buildings and residential buildings are part of the 8 hectare museum grounds, as are the remains of goods transport on rails.
Take advantage of the opportunity to take part in a demonstration of splitting and cutting slate slabs or to visit the Rosset pit at a depth of 15 meters. The site gives you a vivid memory of the everyday life of the Martelinger slate worker.
The tour takes about 2.5 hours.
A jacket and sturdy shoes are recommended for a tour of the pit (constant temperature of 9 °).

Guided tour every Sunday at 3 p.m. from April to July (reservation required)
- From May onwards, the museum grounds are freely accessible every Sunday from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. and are also suitable for walks
- From June 1st, open Tuesday to Saturday from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., also for individual visits.
From Arsdorf there is also a great bike path leading directly to Martelange.
